Competitions Rules & Regulations

  • No Stock or Exhibit can be admitted for competition unless a Certificate of Entry with Entry Fees has been received by the Secretary by the stated date and if a false certificate be given the party shall forfeit all premiums and be prohibited from exhibiting at any future Show of the Society.
  • All Stock or Exhibits show from premiums at the Show must be the bona fide property of exhibitors and have been in their possession not less than one month previous to the day of the Show.
  • Brood Mares must have produced a foal this year or be certified to be in foal. If a mare has cast her foal, her owner must produce a certificate from a qualified veterinary surgeon.
  • In no case will a premium be awarded unless the Judge has deemed the stock or exhibits of sufficient merit, and in the event of only two entries being shown in one class, the first prize shall be at the Judge’s discretion.
  • Each animal must be in charge of one person, and no person will be allowed to untie or remove any animal from its place during the time the Exhibition is open, except by permission of the Show Committee or their duly appointed Stewards. Stock are not to be left in conveyances, but must be on view, and conveyances removed to appointed park.
  • Stock and Exhibits to arrive on the Show Ground as advised by each show section and be exhibited until time assigned by the section.
  • The Committee reserve the right to amalgamate classes if separate class entries are too low.
  • All Children competitor’s ages specifies to be as that on Show Day.
  • When any conditions are attached to the winning of a prize, the prize will not be paid until such conditions have been fulfilled and proved, and the Certificate there of produced to the Secretary.
  • In all cases the Judge’s decision is final.
  • Any notice of objection, together will a deposit of £40, to be lodged with the Secretary in writing, and no objection will be entertained that is made after the close of the Show. In the event of an objection being lodged, any prize money or cup will be withheld until the dispute is resolved by the Committee. Where an objection fails the deposit will be forfeited.
  • All disputes relating to the Society are to be settled by the Society’s Committee, and their decision shall be final and binding without any appeal to law.
  • Prize Money will be paid on Show Day. Prize Winners not receiving their money by 1st October should write to the Secretary, giving particulars of award.
  • Reasonable care will be taken of exhibits, but the Society will not be responsible for any loss or damage.
  • Exhibitors of flowers are requested to provide their own bottles, stands, trays or dishes, and to see that the owner’s number is plainly written and affixed thereto.
  • Flower arranging classes are only for non professional exhibitors.
  • The General Rules of the Society also apply to the exhibitors.
  • A complimentary exhibitors admission wristband will be issued to all exhibitors making entries totalling £5 and upwards.
  • All Challenge Trophies will be held until August 1st following receipt unless recalled earlier by the Society. They must be returned in a sound, clean condition.
  • Members of the Public, Exhibitors, or any other persons entering the Show Field do so at their own risk, and of their property.
  • All Show Section Secretaries to attend at least two committee meeting per year.
  • Exhibitors of animals and vintage vehicles must hold their own public liability insurance cover and you may be asked for your certificate as proof.
  • Tradestand exhibitors must hold their own public liability insurance cover and you may be asked for your insurance certificate as proof.
